DIETARY SUPPLEMENTS - COURSE SYNOPSIS

The course on Dietary Supplements provides health practitioners with an evidence-based, self-learning package on use of vitamin/mineral supplements, herbal preparations, as well as common sports supplements - all within the context of healthy eating. Federal regulation of the natural health products industry, quality control of supplements and ethical considerations in recommending dietary supplements and complementary therapies are also featured course topics. Each lesson includes extensive links for further learning.

The Dietary Supplements Course is comprised of 3 lessons, each of which can be completed at your own pace. Each lesson includes case scenarios to assist the learner in applying the course content. Pop quizzes and end of lesson self-assessment are further learning enhancements. A Personal Certificate, available after successful completion of the self-evaluation of each lesson, should be retained in your files as part of your professional development plan as required by health professional regulatory bodies or employers.

NOTE: It is strongly recommended that you review the Course Orientation before proceeding to ensure a rewarding user experience.

It is suggested that registrants have a basic understanding of the Dietary Reference Intakes (DRIs) and the indicators used to set the requirements for each nutrient.

For further information on the DRIs visit http://www.dieteticsatwork.com/coursedelivery/index.asp?lang=en
