Technology Requirements

In order to fully participate in the course lessons, you will need to meet the minimum technical requirements listed below. To maximize your training experience, you should have the necessary software and plug-ins installed on your computer, before you begin. If you don't meet all of the requirements, you may still be able to go through the lessons, but certain features may be missing or not function as designed.

  • 200 MHz processor or better
  • 32 MB or more of RAM
  • Minimum 28 kbps modem with a stable Internet connection
    (56 kbps or faster is recommended).
    Any High Speed Internet access configuaration such as
    (Cable, DSL, High Speed Telephone, or T1 - LAN) will exceed the minimum requirements.
  • 16-bit sound card and speakers to hear the audio portions.
    Note:For Lesson 1 the audio does not provide any additional information not already in the text.
    For Lessons 2 and later, text translations of all audio portions are provided.
  • Video card capable of displaying thousands of colors or higher
  • Screen resolution of 800 x 600 or higher is recommended
  • Web browser: Netscape Navigator 4 or Internet Explorer 4 or higher
  • Cookies Enabled: You will not be able to access the course without session cookies enabled. (They usually are – if not go to the Advanced Settings tab in your Internet Options, under Tools)
  • Pop-up Windows Enabled: Pop-up windows must be enabled for the online payment process to work and for you to see the course slides and other interactive features. If you are using a pop-up window blocker you must either disable it completely or set it to allow pop-ups from these 2 web sites; www.dietitians.ca and www.dieteticsatwork.com .
  • Javascript must be turned on (It usually is – if not go to the Advanced Settings tab in your Internet Options, under Tools)
  • Adobe Acrobat Reader to view certain documents
  • Flash Player 5 to participate in some of the interactive learning tools
