Dietetics @ Work Continuing Education:
Nutrient Reference Values Course Information
Course Synopsis: Dr Susan Barr, Professor of Nutrition at the University of British Columbia and Chair of the Food and Nutrition Board's Subcommittee on Interpretation and Uses of the Dietary Reference Intakes was the author of the original course material. Dr. Katrine Baghurst, Chair, National Health & Medical Research Committee of Australia tasked with developing the Nutrient Reference Values has reviewed and edited all course content to make it applicable and relevant for dietitians in Australia and New Zealand. The whole DRI Course consists of 8 lessons, (the first 6 of which have been edited to reflect the NRVs) each of which can be completed at your own pace. As a whole, the Course is equivalent to about a half-semester university course. The Personal Certificate, available after completion of the self-evaluation of each lesson, should be retained in your files as part of your professional development plan. We strongly urge you to review the course orientation before proceeding to ensure a rewarding user experience. Specific differences in nutrient recommendations between DRIs and the NRVs are outlined here to provide a quick overview reference for course users. Each individual lesson also begins with the specific summary paragraph describing the changes specific to the topic discussed therein. Log directly into DRIs lessons here
